Hunting Values is an installation conceived for the Locarno Film Festival. The project has born from the desire to involve more young people into the festival and let them explore the city of Locarno. For this reason, the installation includes a treasure hunt that allows young people to travel around the city and at the same time get to know its most important places and some of the festival films. Five places, five films and five activities were selected to complete the hunt’s route and obtain the award. In each place there is a panel with which the user interacts and then, through a web-app, he can find the other hunting spots.
The project is both physical and digital. The user interacts with the panel by some buttons that allow him to select the windows he finds on the screen. At first, the user can watch a clip of the movie that has been selected for that specific location, later they can read detailed information about the movie or the location. The fun part is the activity to complete: in the prototype, the user must mimic the protagonist of Robocop. Until the camera detects the correct pose, the user continues to refine it. Once the activity is completed, a QR code is presented which leads to the web-app on the mobile. Through the web-app the user can reach the other spots through clues and can see where he is with his personal map. Every time he reaches a new panel and completes the activity, he unlocks the spot and scores points. He can also check his position in relation to other players in the leaderboard section.
